JAMMU, Aug 24: Senior NC leader, Rajesh Gupta has expressed concern over the increase in drug menace in Jammu and claimed that the surge is due to the continued denial of Statehood to J&K.
In a handout, Gupta said that transformation of J&K State into a Union Territory following the abrogation of Article 370 has led to widespread social disruption.
“In reality this political development triggered instability, rise in crime and increase in drug abuse particularly among the youth,” he maintained adding, “The hike in substance abuse has been accompanied by increased thefts and the erosion of traditional community support systems.”
The NC leader also said that Jammu doesn’t just need flyovers and slogans but it needs protection, policy focus and most importantly, its own voice.
