Gund residents demand tehsil

SRINAGAR, Jan 10: The residents of Gund and its adjoining areas in Kangan tehsil of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have decided to launch a campaign for getting a tehsil headquarters. Public Welfare Committee (PWC), Gund, has decided to launch a campaign to get tehsil for Gund.
Chairman Public Welfare Committee (PWC), Gund, Haji Yousuf said it was the long pending demand of these villages and even after Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s assurance they have not yet been given the tehsil.
Yousuf said the area is very far from district headquarters and people of villages like Sarbal have to travel 48 kilometers to reach Kangan.
“This long travelling for a small work is injustice, so we demand tehsil at Gund for public convenience.”
