GSS takes onus to link displaced children to their roots: Wattal

JAMMU, Nov 29: A Core Committee meetings of Global Solace Society (GSS) was held under chairmanship of Kiran Wattal its patron and national convener, Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS). The meeting, while showing its concern over delinking of the younger generations of the Kashmiri Pandits from their moorings who are leading an exiled life for last 32 years and Government’s failure to address it as per the geo-political aspirations of the community decided that GSS will launch a campaign in linking the younger generation of KPs to their roots in Kashmir.
Addressing the meeting Kiran Wattal said that GSS taking an onus to itself has decided to start from children who are the future of community and in this regard it will launch various programmes. To begin with competitive essay writing will be held among K.P children’s of age group 8-14 years and 15-18 years.
He said this initiative will provide a unique opportunity for children’s of KP community to engage with the theme and internationalize the emotional bonding with their real home.
The committee besides Wattal comprising of Pintoo Ji Pandita, President Global Solace & National GS, VKS; Bhavna Pandita (chief coordinator), Paviter Handoo, president, VKS Delhi NCR chapter; Ramesh Hangloo (founder-director Radio Sharda), B K Bhat, Anjali Kaul, TV artist and VKS volunteer, B L Bhat, M K Bangroo (ex bureau chief PTI, Jammu), Bihari Kak (senior stage & TV artist), B L Dhar, M K Yogi, Rohit Bhat, Aryan Ramesh, Sahil Pandita, S K Bhat, P L Thusoo, Ajay Bhat and Akshay Kumar met and ratified the schedule and made the announcement.
All participant children will get appreciation letters and their names will be appended to winning letters for purpose of sending to the Prime Minister. A request will be made to the Prime Minister to acknowledge the voices of children in his Mann ki Baat and also act on their wishes.
The 10-member jury comprises of Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University Jammu; B L Bhat, patron Global Solace and Social worker; Avtar Bhat, Journalist; Prof B L Zutshi, writer & thinker; Roshan Lal Bhat, Founder-Director Heema Public School, Jagti; Ms Madhulika Handoo, Human Rights Specialist and humanitarian worker; Madhur Tankha, senior journalist (with The Hindu newspaper), Avtar Nehru, Journalist, documentary filmmaker and editor Curriculum-magazine.com; Dr Rajinder Tikoo, retd professor Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences & Technology, Kashmir; Rajan Nakhasi, author, actor and activist.
