JAMMU, Aug 3: Green Ray Foundation, an NGO working for environmental conservation, in collaboration with the Urban Forestry Division, today held an environment-centric programme at the Guru Harikrishan Public School campus, Guru Nanak Nagar.
The initiative was led by Randhir Singh, president of the NGO, and attended by several dignitaries and community members. Mahant Manjit graced the event as the chief guest, while Ajay Sharma, SP Jammu South, was present as the guest of honour.
Both dignitaries jointly inaugurated the event and called upon the younger generation to recognize their responsibility towards a greener and safer future. They stressed the importance of increasing green cover as a collective duty to mitigate environmental challenges.
Speaking to media persons, Randhir Singh highlighted the environmental and health benefits of expanding natural cover in urban spaces. He urged educational institutions to lead by example in creating eco-conscious citizens.
Ashwani Kumar, DFO Urban Forestry Division, along with his team, participated in the initiative. Notable attendees included Bhupinder Singh (Retired DIG and Chairman of the school), Principal Rita Popli, Ravinder Singh (Retired Director, School Education), Parveen Singh, Manmohan Singh, Satvir Singh, Parampreet Kour (NGO Secretary), Karman Singh, Kamaljeet Singh, Atinder Singh and Harwinkal Singh.
