JAMMU, Apr 3: A grand Nagar Kirtan dedicated to 350th foundation day of Sri Anandpur Sahib, was taken out today from Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar.
The Nagar Kirtan was organized by Jammu Kashmir Gurdwara Parbandhak Board with the cooperation of various district Gurudwara Parbandhak committees and Sikh organizations.
Ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji had laid foundation of this holy place by naming it Sri Anandpur Sahib, 350 years back and then after the establishment of Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Anantpur Sahib, this holy place has great religious importance in Sikh heritage and glorious history.
Similarly, one of the five holy Takhts of Sikh community, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, is also situated here at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
A large number of participants from entire J&K participated in this holy procession in large number of vehicles including buses and cars to express their solidarity with Sikh Panth and Anandpur Sahib.
This mammoth Nagar Kirtan touching Samba, Kathua, Lakhanpur, Mukerian and Dasua in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, will reach Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib in evening of April 4 where a special religious programme will be organized for J&K Sikh Sangat. The Nagar Kirtan will return back to Jammu on April 5.
Prominent leaders of various Sikh organizations and representatives of various district Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees and local Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees participated in Nagar Kirtan.
