JAMMU, Apr 2: A grand International Ramayana Conclave was organized at Shri Ranbir Campus, Central Sanskrit University, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, under the joint auspices of the Department of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the International Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute, Ayodhya.
Many scholars, saints, Acharyas, and distinguished guests associated with religion, culture, and Sanskrit literature graced the occasion with their presence, making the event historic. The teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the campus also attended the program.
The program commenced with Vedic chanting, wherein the students of Shri Ranbir Campus melodiously recited verses from the four Vedas. Dr Anay Mani Tripathi presented the Vedic Mangalacharan, and Dr Praveen Mani Tripathi presented the Laukik Mangalacharan.
Director of Shri Ranbir Campus, Prof Shridhar Mishra, highlighted the importance of the Ramayana, stating that it is not merely a religious text but a code of conduct for all humanity, from which individuals can draw inspiration in every sphere of life.
He also felicitated the distinguished guests, including Ashutosh Mishra (Advisor, International Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute, Ayodhya).
Eminent spiritual figures, who presented their thoughts on the Ramayana at the conference, included Srimad Jagadguru Shankaracharya Amritanand Dev Teerth (ShardaPeeth, Jammu-Kashmir), Acharya Mithileshnandini Sharan (Mahant, Siddh Peeth Shri Hanumant Niwas, Ayodhya Dham), Swami Hridayanand Giri (Hridayadeep Ashram, Jammu), and Mahamandaleshwar Swami Rameshwaram Das (Ram Mandir, Old Mandi, Jammu).
On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, Prof Shrinivas Varkhedi, connected virtually and delivered his significant address.
In the middle of the program, a Ramayana Veda-based question-answer session was organized. Following this, a Ramcharan Sanskrit program was held, featuring a beautiful presentation of episodes related to the Ramayana in Dogri. In the same sequence, a “Kavyarchan” (poetry recitation) also took place, in which distinguished poets and Sanskrit scholars, including Sahityakar Vinod Gupta ‘Nirmal’, Sarvesh Asthana, Mohit Shorya, Son Rupa Vishal, and Soumya Shrivastav, presented their compositions based on various episodes of the Ramayana.
A captivating enactment of Rama Leela was also presented by artists from Jammu. Famous Bhajan singer Chaman Lahari presented melodious Bhajans. During the conference, two significant research journals of Shri Ranbir Campus, “Shri Vaishnavi” and “Shikshamritam,” were released.
In the concluding session, Co-Director of Shri Ranbir Campus, Prof Satish Kumar Kapoor, presented formal vote of thanks.
