Gramin Dak Sevaks’ strike enters 8th day

JAMMU, May 29: The indefinite strike of Gramin Dak Sevaks of Postal Department under the banner of National Union Gramin Dak Sevaks (NUGDS) entered 8th day, today.
The indefinite strike was started on May 22 by GDS section of the Postal Department and the protesting Dak Sevaks said that the strike will remain continue until and unless the genuine demands of this aggrieved class of low paid Gramin Dak Sevaks of Postal Department are to be accepted by the Department of  Posts and Government of India.
Like other previous days, today also the protest was held in the shape of peaceful dharna in front of the office of the Chief Post Master General, J&K Circle, at Rail Head Complex, Jammu for acceptance and immediate implementation of GDS 7th Pay Commission Report of Kamlesh Chandera Committee. A large number of Gramin Dak Sevak Employees marked their presence in the dharna.

All work of Rural Postal network stands completely paralyzed for 8th day today. The agitation was completely peaceful and all GDS participants are requested through NUGDS leaders to ensure safety of department properly.
The leaders of  National Union Gramin Dak Sevaks (NUGDS J&K Circle), who addressed the dharna were Keshav Sharma (division secretary, NUGDS Jammu), Ram Krishan Bhat, Harbans Singh, Som Nath, Charan Dass, Ram Pal, etc.
