JAMMU, Dec 3: J&K Grameen Bank in collaboration with NABARD, organized awareness programme on the Pradhan Mantri’s Social Security Schemes at Kangrail, Mishriwala.
Chairman of J&K Grameen Bank, R K Chhibber, who was the chief guest on the occasion, spoke at length about various bank schemes i.e., Farmer Clubs (FCs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) & Joint Liability Groups (JLGs). He highlighted that Joint Liability Group approach is an effective credit delivery methodology for banks to reach clients like small farmers, marginal farmers, tenant farmers, share croppers, oral lessees and also micro entrepreneurs and therefore an important tool for poverty alleviation and social cohesion. He also distributed credit worth Rs 28 Lakh to 27 beneficiaries in shape of KCC, JLGs, Dairy etc.
Area Manager Jammu, Randhir Singh Billawria spoke at length about the various Bank/NABARD schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, V K Sharma, Sr Manager MF&FI Deptt J&K Grameen Bank, informed the participants at length regarding the benefits of newly launched schemes named (PMJJBY) Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, (PMSBY) Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and (APY) Atal Pension Yojana. He further informed the gathering that these schemes have been designed to provide security cover to the poor population particularly those working in the unorganized sectors. He advised the people to avail this benefit through nearest Grameen Bank Branch.
Kailash Verma, chairperson of Women Cooperative Credit Society, spoke about women empowerment.
Financial Literacy Counselor, Mohinder Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
Sheetal, RSETI Ban Talab, district Jammu, informed the gathering about the training being imparted by them.
Kasturi Lal, Sarpanch of the area, also spoke on the occasion. The said camp was attended by huge gathering.
