Graduate Engineers urge Govt to resolve career issues

SRINAGAR, May 5: A joint delegation of Graduate Engineers today met Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani at the Civil Secretariat here to highlight their long-pending service-related demands.
The delegation was led by the Presidents of the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Engineering Graduates Association (JKCEGA) and Jammu & Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA).
A statement said that key issues raised during the meeting included the issuance of an SRO for the Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme, regularisation of engineers in the PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering Departments, placement against vacant posts, and urgent referral of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) vacancies to recruitment agencies.
The Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured early action to address the concerns of the engineering fraternity.
In a separate discussion with the Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, the delegation stressed the urgent need for implementing the ACP scheme, pointing out that stagnation due to limited senior-level posts has affected morale and service delivery.
The Advisor acknowledged the seriousness of the issues and assured the delegation of immediate steps toward implementing the ACP scheme to improve career prospects and motivation among engineers.
