SRINAGAR, Nov 5: National Conference today expressed disappointment over the PDP-BJP Government’s inaction on the crucial issue of regularization of thousands of casual and daily-wage employees who continue to live in uncertainty due to the present Government’s irresponsible and non-serious attitude over the issue.
NC additional general secretary, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, said the Government should ensure that this matter is addressed as a top priority as thousands of families across the State are living in anxiety and misery because of inaction and misplaced priorities of the administration.
“The Government should take immediate steps to initiate a process of regularizing the casual and daily-wage employees in the State – as was envisaged by the previous Government. National Conference – in the previous Government’s tenure – had left no stone unturned to start the regularization of thousands of such employees on humanitarian grounds but those efforts unfortunately failed to yield the desired results because of a different stand taken by the then alliance partner of the party in the Government. Now, it is incumbent on the PDP-BJP Govt to fulfill this demand as they had promised in their election campaign”, the senior NC leader said in a statement issued from Party Headquarters in Srinagar.
The NC additional general secretary also sought the immediate implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in the State and said Mehbooba Mufti should seek all necessary budgetary support for this from her alliance partner in New Delhi.
“National Conference also demands that the Government started filling thousands of vacancies in various Government departments to help in tackling the growing issue of unemployment in the State. These vacancies are also inhibiting optimum performance of various important departments and the Government should initiate a transparent employment drive to fill these vacancies and give our unemployed youth opportunities to seek employment in the public sector in addition to job opportunities in the private sector”, Dr Mustafa Kamal further said.
