JAMMU, July 1: The Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of the Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued a circular, warning Officer Incharge Litigations (OICs) against “casual and careless” handling of legal cases.
The warning was issued after the Government noted that many OICs were not following earlier instructions, leading to dismissal of petitions and serious setbacks to the Government in court.
The circular re-emphasised duties such as timely coordination with legal officers, providing case files without delay, and ensuring replies are filed well before deadlines.
Accordingly, the departments have also been told to report any laxity for necessary disciplinary action.
