RAJOURI, May 14: JKPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra has said that immediate disbursement of ex-gratia relief and proper rehabilitation of the affected people should be the top most priority of the Government and should be undertaken on war footing especially whose houses are badly damaged.

Accompanied by working president Raman Bhalla, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, AICC secretary Neeraj Kundan, MLA Iftikhar Ahmed, DCC president  Shabir Ahmed Khan, DDC Sain Rasheed, NSUI President Ajay Lakhotra, Kissan Cell Chairman Bharat Priye and other local leaders, Karra visited Government Medical College Hospital Rajouri and met the injured besides visiting different affected areas in Thannamandi, Rajouri and Nowshera constituency including border migrants camps and listened to their woes. Karra also visited extreme LoC in Manjakote area and met the border people.
Earlier, a prayer- cum- review meeting  was held at Rajouri Dak Bungalow to mourn the martyrdom of ADDC Dr Raj Kumar Thapa and others who were martyred . A two- minute silence was observed in the meeting attended by prominent leaders, Sarpanches and Panches. The entire situation in the district was reviewed.
Grave concern was shown over the loss of lives, property, livestock and crops besides shelter houses left unworthy of use and shelter. People are left without shelter and have no place to stay .
The people demanded immediate compensation for the loss of lives, property, crops, livestock, houses etc without delay. They also urged for compensation of vehicles in shelling.
Reiterating the demand for a special Central package to compensate the losses and rehabilitation of affected besides recruitment package for border areas, JKPCC chief demanded that immediate relief for the affected people especially whose houses have become unworthy of living. Several families are left without shelter.
He said that Congress would press for well equipped bunkers in entire belt in Rajouri- Poonch and other border areas under direct shelling.
This is possible with a special central package covering most population to save the border population.
He regretted that sudden ceasefire by third country has left many questions unanswered  for which Congress party and LoP Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi have demanded special session of Parliament and all party meet. PM should immediately accept the opposition demand. Rahul Gandhi is very concerned about the plight of our border people and have been regular feed back daily. Gandhi telephonically contacted him today also during the course of meeting, Karra disclosed.
