Govt should forcefully enforce Distress Sale Act: ADKUF

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Sept 15: A meeting of All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) was held under its chairman DN Kissu here, today.
Forum while deliberating over the opening of new portal for registering online complaints of migrants against encroachments and distress sale was of the view that most of the complainants don’t have the records of their property left behind. It said moreover it is the third generation of displaced people now and new borns have never seen Kashmir and they have little knowledge of their property. Complaints were made online as well as manually in past also but there was no fruitful action by the Government. In some cases Government itself is a party in illegal occupations. Now the complaints being submitted through new portal will be forwarded through same channels to same authorities therefore expectations on action taken can be no different.
The Forum said if Government is serious on this issue it should depute revenue officials district wise to Jammu to accept on spot grievances and action taken be monitored at a higher level.
PL Sudeshi president of the Forum said that the cultivable land of owners who had applied decades back for restoring their half portion under agrarian act has still not been restored to them and a number of tillers are illegally cultivating crops on owners land in some cases land has been even sold out.
Prof. GL Koul chief advisor of the Forum pointed out that encroachment of Pandits property continues unabated and demanded that the Distress Sale Act be implemented in letter and spirit.
PN Raina general secretary pointed out that the Government’s calculated move of not including names of displaced community in voter lists outside valley has exposed its sinister design of camouflaging the Pandits’ claim of being “internally displaced community”.
Satish Kissu said expressed satisfaction with the announcement about reconstruction and restoration the glory of temples in the Valley. He appealed the Government for passing much awaited Kashmir Temples and Shrines Bill.
CL Zutshi demanded ration for APL card holders.
Women Wing president, Phoola Koul, ML Pandita BN Bhat, ML Koul and PL Razdan also addressed the meeting.
