Govt sets up committee for PM RAHAT Scheme implementation

JAMMU, Mar 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a committee to facilitate the implementation of the PM RAHAT Scheme aimed at providing cashless treatment to road accident victims across the Union Territory.
As per an order, the committee would be headed by Administrative Secretary Home Department, with Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu, IGP Kashmir and Jammu and IGP Traffic, J&K serving as Members and Administrative Secretary Transport Department as the Member Secretary.
The committee will assist the J&K Road Safety Council in the implementation of the PM Rahat Scheme in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, ensure inter-departmental coordination among the Transport Department, Health & Medical Education Department, Police Department and other concerned agencies for smooth operationalisation of the Scheme.
Further, the Committee will review the adequacy of healthcare infrastructure, including hospitals and trauma care centres for providing cashless treatment to road accident victims under the Scheme, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and monitor the operational protocols relating to accident reporting, admission and treatment of victims, processing of claims, and their integration with emergency response sysmtes.
It has also been mandated to review the progress of implementation of scheme, including challenges in implementation, and to recommend corrective measures to the Jammu and Kashmir Road Safety Council for effective implementation , facilitating timely processing and settlement of claims through the designated mechanism notified by the Government of India besides making any other suitable recommendations to the Jammu and Kashmir Road Safety Council for strengthening emergency care for road accident victims in the Union Territory.
