JAMMU, Apr 3: The Government has relaxed the criteria/rules for the promotion to the position of Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers in the Jal Shakti Department.
Official sources said that the Government after Cabinet meeting, relaxed the criteria of promotion for the Executive Engineers and Superintending Engineers for the next promotion as SEs and Chief Engineers cadre, because no sufficient cadre strength was available in the department for the further promotion as per existing criteria.

For the promotion to the post of Chief Engineer, a sanction has been accorded to the reduction of total length of Gazetted Service from 20 years to 18 years and omission of requirement of one year experience as SE for promotion to the said post in relaxation of rules.
And for the promotion to the post of SE, the Government has reduced the length of Gazetted Service from 17 years to 15 years and the period of experience as Executive Engineer for promotion to the said post from the present three years to one year, in relaxation of rules.
