DODA, Apr 17: A storekeeper of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department has been arrested for black-marketing Government ration, which was meant for public distribution.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, a team from Gandoh police station conducted raid in shops at Bhatyas and seized over 500 quintals of Government ration, which was meant for public distribution under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
During investigation, the concerned storekeeper of CAPD Department identified as Abdul Rashid Zargar was arrested.
Despite availability of space at Government food store, the storekeeper had unauthorizedly unloaded the ration in the shops of Abdul Latief Bania and Ghulam Mustafa at Bhatyas for black-marketing.
A case under FIR Number 27/16 under Section 409 and 511 RPC has been registered at police station Gandoh and investigation started.
When contacted, DySP Gandoh BK Ganjoo confirmed the arrest of the CAPD Department’s storekeeper.
He added that further investigation into the case is going on and whosoever will be found guilty, strict action will be initiated against them.
Meanwhile, Assistant Director CAPD Doda has ordered inquiry into the incident vis-à-vis suspension of the storekeeper.
