SRINAGAR, June 13: Government today said proposal for establishment of 10 nursing colleges in the State has been taken up with the Finance Department for meeting its concurrence.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta in Lower House, Minister Incharge Health and Medical Department stated the proposal for establishment of 10 nursing colleges in the State including one at Udhampur (at the cost of Rs 2.50 crore per college) was taken up with the Finance Department and it has raised some observations and the same are under examination in the department and will be replied shortly.
In 2015 the then Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayed promised the establishment of nursing college at Udhampur and accordingly revenue authorities initiated the exercise for identification of suitable land and the same was identified also at village Beli.
However, the indentified land was found inappropriate for establishment of nursing college, said the Minister. “Now alternate sites are being identified by the revenue authorities in village Seen-Thakran, Mand, Roun, Malhar etc within the radius of 10-12 Kilometeres of Udhampur town for the purpose,” the Minister stated.
