REASI, Oct 18: Government Polytechnic Reasi celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm and participation from students across departments. The week-long sporting events, which began on October 13 on a knockout basis, concluded with exciting finals held on the college campus.
Principal Arun Bangotra graced the occasion as the chief guest and encouraged students to actively participate in sports alongside academics.
The competitions witnessed spirited performances in Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis, and Volleyball. In Boys’ Badminton, Danish Bhardwaj emerged champion, defeating Harsh Dev Singh by 2–0 in the final, while in the Girls’ category, Vishali Devi outplayed Darshana Devi in a closely contested 2–1 victory.
In Carrom (Boys), Rashpal Singh and Chandan clinched the title, while Manik Sangral and Avinash Lal were runners-up. In the Girls’ Carrom, Manvi and Mehak bagged first place, with Nitasha and Reetika finishing second.
Chess matches saw Ayush Verma claim the top spot among boys, followed by Mankaran, while Arti and Bharti stood first and second respectively in the Girls’ category. In Table Tennis, Mukesh Kumar triumphed over Amit Sangral in the final round.
The highlight of the event was the Volleyball final, where the Electrical Department team defeated the Mechanical Department by 2–0 (25–21, 25–18) to secure the championship.
Sports Secretary Ajay Dogra, Senior Workshop Instructor, proposed the vote of thanks.
