Srinagar, Dec 26: Minister Sakeena Itoo today said that those “misleading” youth and students over the reservation issue should approach the Lieutenant Governor’s office to ascertain the status of the Cabinet-approved decision.
In a statement issued here, Itoo said the Government has already completed its role in the reservation amendment, with the Council of Ministers approving the proposal and forwarding it to the Lieutenant Governor for approval.

She said some individuals were “deliberately misleading” students and youth and unfairly criticising the Government despite it having done its part.
“These people are ignorant and are misleading the youth. The Government’s role in the reservation matter has already been completed. The Council of Ministers has approved the changes and submitted the same to the Lieutenant Governor for approval,” she said.
Itoo said that if these individuals wished to protest, they should do so outside the LG’s office instead of indulging in what she termed unnecessary criticism of the Government.
“If they need to protest, they should protest before the LG’s office. Ironically, they find it inconvenient to protest there,” she added.
She further appealed to students not to be misled by what she described as hollow slogans against the Government, asserting that the decision taken was in the best interest of youth and aspirants.
Meanwhile, MLA Zadibal and National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq also today said that the Government has fulfilled its promise of rationalising the reservation policy and urged the Lok Bhavan to approve the decision without further delay.
Speaking to reporters here, Sadiq said the Cabinet had taken a decision on the rationalisation of the reservation policy about 25 days ago and the proposal was subsequently forwarded to the Lok Bhavan for approval.
“The Government had promised rationalisation and that promise has been fulfilled. Now the decision is with the Lok Bhavan. We urge that it be approved and sent back at the earliest so that the aspirations of the aspirants are met,” he said.
