JAMMU, Mar 4: The Jal Shakti (PHE) Employees & Workers Association District Udhampur leader and senior Trade Union leader Som Nath has said that Omar Government must take decision with regard to the regularization of Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) during this Assembly Budget Session.
Talking to media persons at Udhampur Som Nath said that the daily wagers are on the road since long agitating for justice. The Ladakh UT Administration has taken decision in favour of daily wagers. First of all they implemented the Minimum Wages Act and recently ordered for regularization of the daily wagers but the JK UT Administration led by LG, Manoj Sinha have treated them showing step motherly behavior towards them.
Now, the newly elected Govt led by CM Omar Abdullah and LG Manoj Sinha, both must render full support to solve the genuine demands of daily wagers.
Som Nath appealed to all the elected all party MLAs to support the daily wagers’ issue otherwise, they will be forced to start the fresh agitation. He said the minimum wages @ Rs 311/day in J&K UT only and no other UT in country has implemented these rates.
He strongly demanded regularization of CP/ITI/Land case workers who have completed seven years of service or more; release of pending wages of the workers since last 60-65 months and clear all pending wages of the workers and create separate head of wages in the coming UT Budget; implement Minimum Wages Act as per other UTs and the Centre; remove shortage of staff in the PHE water stations and offices.
Som Nath appealed to the Govt to sort out the matter of daily wagers as early as possible. He also appealed to all employees and workers of the UT to unite for the cause of the workers.
Others who accompanied Som Nath included, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Makhan Chand, Jagdish Magotra, Tilak Raj Katoch and Vinod Kumar.
