Srinagar, June 3: As a few new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister Sakeena Itoo today said that the Health Department is fully prepared and ready to deal with any situation.
Speaking to reporters in Pampore, the Minister said the department is always equipped to handle emergencies and respond to challenges.
“Once again, some cases of COVID-19 have been reported, but there is no need to panic, as the Health Department is well-prepared to manage the situation. At the same time, people should support the department by taking necessary precautions,” she said.
Sakeena emphasized that during the previous wave of the infection, doctors and other Health Department staff worked tirelessly day and night. She expressed hope that such a time does not return.
Minister, who holds the portfolio of Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, was on a tour of the Pampore Constituency to take stock of functioning of vital public utilities like PHC Kakapora, SDH Pampore and Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore and also review the progress of ongoing developmental projects in the Constituency.
MLA Pampore, Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi; MLA Rajpora, Ghulam Mohi Uddin Mir; Directors of Social Welfare, School Education, Health, Colleges, Family Welfare and Ayush, senior officers of district administration and other concerned officers also accompanied the Minister during the visit.
During her visit to PHC Kakapora, Minister Sakeena conducted a detailed inspection of the infrastructure, staffing and availability of essential medical services at the hospital. She interacted with the healthcare staff and patients.
At PHC Kakapora, the Minister also reviewed the progress on ongoing works at under-construction building of the Primary Health Centre (PHC).
She directed the executing agency to expedite the construction works and ensure timely completion of the facility within stipulated time frame. She also interacted with the general public and listened to their demands and grievances.
The Minister later visited the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore and inaugurated a Dialysis Unit, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the local populace.
At Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore, Minister Sakeena took a detailed inspection of the academic and infrastructural facilities of the institution.
Later, the Minister also convened a high-level meeting with senior officers of district administration.
During the meeting, Minister reviewed the progress of flagship programmes and directed officials to ensure effective convergence of schemes, especially those under RDD and social welfare, with allied departments for maximum impact.
