JAMMU, July 2: Government of Jammu and Kashmir today constituted a Study Group to examine establishment of IT Parks in the Union Territory.
Headed by the Administrative Secretary of Information Technology Department, the Study Group shall examine infrastructural, regulatory, financial and operational frameworks necessary for establishing a state-of-the-art IT Park in Jammu and Kashmir.
The group shall undertake study visits to leading IT Parks established in association with IITs and other premier institutions in India, carry out a comparative analysis of visited models and identify best practices and innovative approaches relevant to the unique socio- economic and geographic context of J&K.
It shall understand the ecosystem of successful IT Parks, incentives, industry-academia linkages, startup incubation support, talent development, skill- building initiatives etc and assess the feasibility of establishing a world-class IT/ITES Park in J&K to attract investment, foster innovation, and create employment opportunities.
The Study Group shall prepare and submit a detailed report highlighting, key findings from study visits, policy and structural recommendations, preliminary financial projections, and potential economic and employment impact.
Chief Executive Officer, JaKeGA; two senior expert faculty members from IIT Jammu; one senior expert faculty member from IIM Jammu; Dr Guneet Singh Sudan, Director, Centre for IT Enabled Services and Management, University of Jammu; representative of Planning Development & Monitoring Department and Puneet Kant, Senior Consultant, SeMT, J&K, are members of the Study Group, which shall complete its assessment and submit its final report along with specific recommendations within 45 days.
