JAMMU, July 15: Expressing dismay over the stoppage of Shri Amarnath yatra and manhandling with yatris in the Kashmir valley by some anti-social elements, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today blamed BJP-PDP Government for its complete failure to provide security cover to Amarnath Yatra in the Kashmir valley, resulting into injuries to several pilgrims and damage of vehicles by stone pelters in Valley.
Bhalla stated this while attending a Bhandara organized by Swami Satyanand Ji Maharaj for Amarnath Ji pilgrims at Railway Station today.
Taking strong note of “spurt” in militant attacks on forces on J&K highways, Bhalla demanded heads of various security agencies to ensure fool-proof cover to the Shri Amarnath yatris and deal sternly with militants.
He also sought details of the ‘security plan’ drawn for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage and urged the security agencies to increase the vigil along the both Yatra routes in Kashmir for incident-free pilgrimage.
He also laid special emphasis on streamlining the Road Opening Parties and asked Army, Police and CRPF to frame joint ROPs for protecting yatries on highways.
Bhalla said that Government has even failed to ensure security of scores of displaced Kashmiri Pandit (KP) employees, who escaped from the Valley after the recent protests, from stone-pelting attackers.
Stranded pilgrimage has exposed all claims made by Government before beginning of yatra, he said and demanded round the clock, water and electricity supply and sanitation at all identified places for the Yatra, issuance of Health Certificate at Ram Mandir and Geeta Bhawan; facilitate yatris to undertake visit to tourism destinations within the region by ensuring adequate publicity, establishment of cloak room at Yatri Niwas Jammu, foolproof security arrangements; transportation of Sadhus, emergency and disaster management, setting up of temporary langars; setting up of communication centers (BSNL), medical facilities and medical team at Yatri Niwas and enroute National Highway, temporary toilets, mobile toilet vans in Bhagwati Nagar area, besides measures to ensure traffic arrangements.
