Govt extends closure of edu institutions till Sept 5

JAMMU, Sept 3: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have ordered the closure of schools, colleges and universities in both divisions as heavy rains, landslides, flash floods and water-logging continue to disrupt normal life.

The Directorate of School Education Jammu has directed that all Government and private schools across Jammu division shall remain closed till September 5, 2025. “In view of the incessant rains, landslides, flash floods and severe waterlogging in low-lying areas, all schools shall remain closed till 05-09-2025 to ensure the safety of students and staff,” the order reads. The Directorate also reiterated that online classes should be conducted wherever possible to maintain continuity of education.
In the Valley, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, ordered the closure of all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities and coaching centres, on Thursday, September 4, as a precautionary measure.
The University of Kashmir also postponed all examinations scheduled for September 4, with fresh dates to be notified separately.
The administration has emphasized that these measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of students and staff as the region continues to reel under adverse weather conditions.
