The move is also aimed at reducing the gap between the Average Cost of Supply (ACS) and Aggregate Revenue Receipt (ARR).
The Government has noted that the installation of prepaid smart meters is progressing smoothly across all consumer categories, including domestic, industrial and commercial users and in the next phase, the PDD intends to bring all Government institutions under the ambit of the smart metering drive.
The Finance Department has further instructed all concerned departments to expedite the installation of smart prepaid meters in buildings under their administrative control. Departments have also been directed to make adequate budgetary provisions under the detailed head “008 – Electricity Charges” and furnish the same to the Finance Department. Any additional budgetary requirement, if necessary, may be projected separately for consideration, read the circular.
