JAMMU, Aug 16: Various Government Departments in Jammu and Kashmir celebrated 79th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm amidst hoisting of the National Flag and recalling the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters.
However, in light of the recent cloudburst tragedy in Kishtwar, the cultural events planned for Independence Day were cancelled as a mark of respect and solidarity with the affected families.
On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Sachin Kumar Vaishya hoisted the National Flag at the Central Office of the Shrine Board in Katra. He also inspected march-past by contingents from the J&K Police, CRPF, NCC (Boys and Girls), Shrine Security Sahayaks and students from various educational institutions. The event was attended by the Additional CEO; Joint CEO; SMVDSB, SDM Katra; SP Katra; Commandant CRPF; FA/CAO; Dy CEO, Asstt. CEOs, staff of the Shrine Board and prominent citizens.
At the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, National Flag was hoisted by Vikas Gupta, Director Tourism Jammu in the presence of Aijaz Qaiser – Joint Director Tourism, Jammu; Savita Chouhan – Deputy Director Tourism; Mamta Sharma – Deputy Director (Planning); Vishal Sadhotra – Assistant Director Tourism alongwith other officers and officials of the Directorate. On the occasion, a two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to the victims of the tragic Kishtwar cloudburst incident.
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) celebrated the Independence Day at the Town Hall, Jammu wherein Commissioner JMC Dr Devansh Yadav hoisted the National Flag in the presence of senior officers, staff members, and Safai Sathis of the Corporation. The Commissioner, in his speech, urged all officers to work with dedication, transparency, and a spirit of service. The gathering also paid homage to those who lost their lives in cloudburst near Machel Mata in Kishtwar.
Directorate of Health Services Jammu celebrated the Independent Day by hoisting National Flag at the Directorate office. Homage to the victims of Kishtwar cloudburst was also paid on the occasion. Dr Poonam Sethi Deputy Director Health Services (Schemes) Jammu, hoisted the National Flag and recalled the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters.
Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Sayed hoisted tricolour at the Directorate of Horticulture, Gole Pully, Talab Tillo Jammu to mark the celebrations of 79th Independence Day. Remembering the contribution of freedom fighters, the Director said that freedom is hard earned through innumerable sacrifices.
At the Directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan Jammu, Director Agriculture, Anil Gupta hoisted the National Flag and listed several achievements of the department. The programme was attended by Joint Directors, Deputy Directors sectoral heads and staff of the Directorate.
At the Jammu Airport, Independence Day was celebrated by hoisting of national Tricolour by Airport Director, Brij Mohan Kaul who also paid tributes to the freedom fighters and recalled their sacrifices. Lauding courage and outstanding contribution of CISF, the Airport Director presented Shied of Honour to Sunil Kumar Raghuwanshi, CASO, CISF.
The State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) J&K, Divisional Office Jammu, celebrated Independence Day by hoisting of the National Flag, by the Joint Director, SCERT Jammu, Prof Sindhu Kapoor, followed by the rousing rendition of the National Anthem. In her address, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu, highlighted the pivotal role of education in safeguarding the nation’s democratic ideals and fostering future generations of responsible citizens.
At the Income tax Office Udhampur, National Flag was hoisted by the Income Tax Officer, Udhampur Vijay Choudhary in the presence of members from Tax Bar Association of Udhampur. In the first of its kind, members from Tax Bar Association of Anantnag also attended the celebrations in hoisting the National Flag. The kids of Aaykar Parivar holding tricolor added grace to the occasion.
NHPC celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad. The celebrations began with the hoisting of National Flag by R P Goyal, CMD & Director (Finance), NHPC and singing of the National Anthem. Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), Santosh Kumar, CVO, NHPC and other senior officers and employees of NHPC were present on the occasion along with their family members.
NHPC Regional Office, Jammu celebrated Independence Day at the Regional office premises. Ram Swaroop, ED, Regional Office, Jammu, NHPC Limited, hoisted the National Flag and honoured 5 DGR security personnel who have performed excellent service. The event was attended by Satnam Singh, GM(C), Pankaj Vashisth, GM (C), R P Maurya, GM (HR) and other officers and employees with family members, CISF, DGR Security personnel and outsourced manpower.
At Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, ADGP/ Director Police Academy, Garib Dass, hoisted the National flag and took general salute of the parade contingents. After culmination of the colourful parade, sweets and National flags were distributed among children participating in the function. Among others, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Dy Director (Indoor/Trg.); Rajesh Bali, Dy Director(Outdoor); Ramnish Gupta, Dy Director (Administration); Rakesh Sambyal, CPO Staff of SKPA Udhampur, their family members and the trainee officers/officials of SKPA Udhampur attended the programme.
Resident Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, Niraj Kumar, hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of the Independence Day at Jammu and Kashmir House, Prithviraj Road, New Delhi. A contingent of J&K Armed Police presented the guard of honour during the event. The ceremony was attended by all the officers and officials of Jammu and Kashmir posted in New Delhi. Later, the Resident Commissioner interacted with the officers and officials of J&K House.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director, Sericulture J&K unfurled the National Flag at the Directorate premises, which was adorned with tricolor decorations, floral arrangements, and patriotic illuminations well in advance. As part of the celebrations, the employees who have exhibited remarkable performance and dedication towards duties, were felicitated with mementos and certificates as a mark of appreciation.
The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) celebrated the 79th Independence Day at its Main Campus, Pampore and Regional Centre, Bari Brahmana, Jammu. Khalid Jahangir, Secretary to the Government, Industries and Commerce Department, and Director JKEDI, presided over the function at Main Campus Pampore. At Regional Centre, Bari Brahmana, Jammu, Chand Kishor Sharma, Joint Director JKEDI hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering.
On Independence Day at the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Jammu Division, the program began with the flag hoisting by Divisional Railway Manager, Jammu Division, Vivek Kumar. He also inspected the parade of Railway Protection Force, Civil Defence and Bharat Scout Guide. Sweets were distributed on the occasion.
The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour and patriotism at Bana Singh Stadium in R S Pura. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including SDM RS Pura Anuradha Thakur; MLA Prof Garu Ram and MLA Dr Narinder Singh,. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag. Tehsildar , ZEO Miran Sahib, RS Pura ZEPO and all Block-level officers were present on the occasion. The guests paid tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence.
POWERGRID Northern Region Transmission System-II celebrated Independence Day with patriotism & enthusiasm. at all the establishments across the region. Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director NRTS-II unfurled the tri- colour at upcoming HVDC Power transmission Project site in Pang Ladakh.
At the Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar Chowan, Chief General Manager (Projects) and Anil Marwah, Sr General Manager(Engineering) POWERGRID, jointly unfurled the National Flag in presence of all senior officials, employees and their families members. On the occasion, a colourful program was presented by members of Mahila Samiti and children of the employees. Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions.
Marking the 79th Independence Day, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan hoisted the Tricolour at the CMO Office and District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) Poonch. The event saw the presence of District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Deputy CMO, District Health Officer (DHO), District Programme Management Unit (DPMU) staff, and ANMT members.
