JAMMU, Sept 24: Government today constituted Union Territory Survey Committee and District Level Survey Committee(s) for implementation of the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Rules 213 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Headed by Administrative Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, the UT Level Survey Committee shall monitor and oversee the survey process at UT level. It shall approve final list of manual scavengers for all town, cities and villages in the UT.
Besides senior officers, Himanshu Sharma of Katra, Govind Chalotra of Jakhani Udhampur, Anav Langer of Akhnoor and Sonia Sotra (sanitation worker) of Resham Ghar Colony Jammu, are members of this committee.
The District Level Survey Committee(s), headed by the District Magistrate concerned, shall monitor and oversee the survey process at District level and approve final list of manual scavengers for all town, cities and villages in the district.
