Govt constitutes district-level panels for Lakhpati Didi Initiative in J&K

JAMMU, Sept 18: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the constitution of District Level Steering Committees for the implementation of the Lakhpati Didi Initiative across the Union Territory.
According to a Government order issued today, each committee will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner of the District, with Additional District Development Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, General Manager of the District Industries Centre, Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives, Lead District Manager of J&K Bank, District Manager of NABARD, District Sericulture Officer, and Principal of Nodal ITI as Members, and the District Programme Manager of the Rural Livelihood Mission, as the committee’s secretary.
The committees have been tasked with advising on strategies, ensuring inter-departmental collaboration, recommending measures for effective implementation, reviewing resource materials, and providing recommendations on relevant matters.
They will also monitor the progress of the initiative, guide the creation of monitoring frameworks, review success stories, and suggest scalable solutions.
The Lakhpati Didi Initiative aims to strengthen women’s livelihoods and support convergence efforts under the Department of Rural Development and allied sectors.
The order further said that the chairperson may invite members from civil society, academia, or technical experts, if required, to support the committee’s work.
