JAMMU, Jan 28: In pursuance of the directions passed by Supreme Court of India, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted District-Level Monitoring Committees across the Union Territory to oversee the implementation of , conduct inspection and receive complaints regarding mental health protection and preventing suicides among students across educational institutions in their respective districts.
Each District-Level Monitoring Committee will be chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, with the Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, and District Social Welfare Officer as members. In addition, a representative from civil society, to be nominated by the Deputy Commissioner, will also be part of the committee.
The terms of reference include ensuring strict compliance with the apex court’s directions and carrying out periodic inspections to examine, address, and redress complaints related to student mental well-being and suicide prevention measures.
