SRINAGAR, Nov 3: The All India Centre for Urban and Rural Development (AICURD) has expressed his dismay that only 38 students of the State could avail the scholarship offered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for receiving higher and professional education during last year.
In a statement, AICURD chairperson Rabia Baji said the scheme that was flagged off by the Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik was made defunct by the wrong policies of the State Government. She said the students selected for getting professional and higher education outside the State were made to suffer after they were looted by an NGO.
“No university or NGO is authorized to give any advertisement with respect to the MHRD scholarship. If somebody carries out this act he or she is liable for penal action. Action should also be taken against the people who dupe students and charge money from them in lieu of admissions. The concerned NGO, consultancy or the university should also be blacklisted,” said Rabia.
