Govt attaches CEO Baramulla to DSEK office

Srinagar, Oct 6: The Government today attached In-charge Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla to the office of the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK).
The action from the authorities over the violation-termed as “indulging in affairs of Government”-has come following a social media gag order issued by the CEO.
The order directed employees “not to indulge in debates, discussions, or sharing of inappropriate content on social media.”

“Pending inquiry, Bashir Ahmad Shah, In-charge Chief Education Officer, Baramulla is hereby attached in the Directorate of School Education Kashmir with immediate effect. Further, Chief Education Officer, Bandipora shall hold the charge of the post of Chief Education Officer, Baramulla and Principal, DIET Sopore, Baramulla, till further orders,” read an order issued by the School Education Department in this regard.
Further, the Joint Director Education (North) Kashmir has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a report to the Administrative Department within 15 days.
“The Government remains committed to the welfare of common masses as well as employees and anyone indulging in affairs of Government without proper authority will face due action,” an official handout issued in this regard said.
The directives had come after a review meeting chaired by the Secretary, School Education Department (SED), who, as per the order issued by the CEO Baramulla, instructed all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to bring such instances to the notice of the administration for necessary action.
Those privy to the developments said the concerned officer had issued the order without following the set procedure and without informing the Education Minister.
“She immediately ordered an inquiry into the matter to ascertain how he issued the order; she has also stressed that any officer found working against the interests of the commoners will face action,” an official said.
