As per SO 281 issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, for the post of Chief Engineer (Class I), the service years’ requirement has been brought down from 20 years to 18 years of total gazetted service in the same branch of engineering.
Earlier, an officer also needed one year’s experience as Superintending Engineer, which now remains part of the overall service condition.
Similarly, for Superintending Engineer (Class II), the service years’ eligibility has been reduced from 17 to 15 years of total gazetted service, and the required experience as Executive Engineer has been brought down from three years to one year.
In the case of Executive Engineer (Class III, Category A), the eligibility has been lowered from eight to six years of total gazetted service, while the experience as Assistant Executive Engineer has been cut from four years to two years.
The Finance Department also revised a similar provision, replacing “10 years of total gazetted service with four years as Assistant Executive Engineer” with “8 years of total service and two years of experience” in the same branch.
