Governor reviews Amarnath yatra arrangements

SRINAGAR, July 12:  Governor, N.N Vohra, who is the Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, today held a meeting at the Raj Bhavan to review arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, which commenced from Baltal Route on June 28, 2014, and from Pahalgam route on July 2, 2014.
R.K Gupta, Chief Executive Officer and Preet Pal Singh Additional Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, briefed the Governor about the to-date position regrarding the on-ground arrangements made by the various concerned State Government Departments, and other agencies.
The CEO, who had visited Nunwan, Sheshnag, Panjtarni and Holy Cave on July 10, 2014, along with the Additional CEO, interacted with the officials of all the agencies engaged in the conduct of Yatra. He also interacted with a large number of Yatris and enquired about the arrangements at the Holy Cave and at various Camps.
During the meeting, CEO briefed the Governor about the arrangements for Sanitation, Water and Power Supply, Health facilities, Langar facilities, availability of essential commodities like ration and LPG and accommodation for the Yatris at Camps.
The Governor asked the CEO to closely monitor the Yatra and ensure close and effective coordination with all the agencies involved in the overall management and conduct of pilgrimage in the interest of the safety and security of the Yatris particularly in regard to the forward movement of the Yatris to the Base Camps and onwards to the Holy Shrine.
