JAMMU, Apr 10: At a meeting held at Raj Bhavan here today, Governor, N. N. Vohra, reviewed the to-date status of the construction of a bridge over Jhajjar and its approach roads to connect the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University with the National Highway.
The Governor stressed the high importance of the most expeditious completion of this vital bridge, along with the approach roads on either side, which will provide a direct connectivity from the National Highway to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the upcoming Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence, Kakryal. It was decided in the meeting that the bridge will be completed by early July this year.
It was decided in the meeting that Tehseen Mustafa, Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu, and R. P Singh, Project Director, National Highway Authority of India, will jointly visit the site on 15th April to see all issues regarding the point at which the connecting road to the University bridge will link up with the National Highway.
The Governor also pointed to the upgradation of Kakryal-Katra Road within a very firm time schedule, adding that once the Jammu-Katra rail link is opened and the Institute of Medical Excellence being set up by the Shrine Board becomes operational the flow of traffic on this road is bound to increase manifold.
Referring to the Parvati Bhawan and Asshirwad Bhawan, two important complexes of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board which are being constructed by the JKPCC, the Governor asked Managing Director JKPCC to ensure against any further delay in the completion of both these complexes.

P Singh, Project Director, National Highway Authority of India; Tehseen Mustafa, Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu, Mushtaq Ahmad, Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir and T. R. Bhagat, Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation participated in the meeting.
