This has reference to the news item ‘Gujjars seek support for Gojri’s DE Feb 5.
Gojri deserves to be included in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution as it is spoken by a vast population in the State. There is tremendous scope for the language to grow if it is granted the constitutional status. This sweet language boasts of a strong literary tradition as many books on history, culture, art and music have been written in Gojri. It even has a dictionary of its own.
The demand for inclusion of Gojri in 8th schedule had been raised a number of times earlier also but it has not been considered yet.
The case, as has been already reported is pending with Union Home Ministry. And it needs to be pursued vigorously by the concerned authorities.
