GMC-J to upgrade plumbing system at cost of Rs 17 cr

Jammu, July 6: As a major initiative to provide better patient care services to the patients, GMC Jammu today started up gradation work on the plumbing system in the GMCH.
The project costing Rs 17 crores has been allotted to Mathur and Co.New Delhi and the company executives gave a detailed power point presentation before the Principal GMC , Administrator AH, Medical Superintendent GMCH and officers from the engineeing wing.
They have divided GMCH into 8 blocks and the company is going to complete the work blockwise and the total duration of work is 15 months.They will do water proofing of the roof of GMCH, upgrade all the toilets and plumbing system in GMCH and connect it to the STP.
With the completion of this, the issues related to blockage/leakage of sewarage pipes and non-functional toilets shall be over which were the main complaints of the patients and thier attendants.
Pertinent to mention that since Dr.Shashi Sudan Sharma has taken over Principal GMC a number of major projects have been planned/taken up or completed like making MCH, Gandhi Nagar and DRDO hospitals functional, installation of oxygen generation plants in AH, laying down of oxygen pipelines in all wards of AH, upgradstion of Boys and Girls Hostels, DPC of paramedical staff, recruitment of paramedical staff, DPC of Faculty, recruitment of Faculty, Registrars, Medical Officers, Procurements of machinery/ equipments for various Departments, completion of 100 new emergency Block, e-Library, Upgardation of Microbiology Deptt. including installation of state of the art COBAS machine and establishment of RT-PCR testing facility at multiple sites in Jammu province including peripheral GMCs.
