GMC fires Nurse, ANM worker for being ‘habitual’ of unauthorised absence

SRINAGAR, Dec 16: The Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar today terminated the services of two of its workers for being “habitual” of remaining absent from their legitimate duties.
Those whose services have terminated include Bisma Shafi, Junior Grade Nurse-AAB, and Dilshada, ANM. Their services have been terminated after they failed to respond to the repeated ‘show cause’ notices served to them by the GMC as well the concerned Medical Superintendent.
In their case, as per GMC, the Medical Superintendent Govt. SMHS Hospital Srinagar had informed that the incumbents were “habitual of being on unauthorised absence” from the legitimate duties without informing the higher authorities.
“Both the incumbents have been served repeated and frequent notice by the concerned Medical Superintendent, seeking the reply regarding their unauthorised absence from the legitimate duties,” the GMC said.
It said that the officials did not respond to the notices served by the concerned Medical Superintendent to defend their unauthorised absence case and the concerned Medical Superintendent has forwarded their cases to this institution for their termination.
GMC said that the office of the Dean issued “Show Cause Notice” to the said absconding officials wherein an opportunity was provided to them to resume their duties and were asked to furnish their definite reply to the served Charge sheet within 07 days, positively, failing which it shall be construed that they have nothing to say in their defence and their engagement shall be terminated without any further.
“Both the officials did not bother to attend upon the instructions embodied on the correspondences/notices served from time to time presumably by appearing before this office or could furnish reply/statement of defence to the notices and it indicates that the officials are not interested to serve the department anymore and it indicates their insensitive and callous approach towards duties,” the termination order stated.
It said that in view of the above recommendations of the concerned Medical Superintendent and failure to submit the statement of defence, “the engagement of Bisma Shafi (Junior Grade Nurse-AAB) and Dilshada (ANM- on consolidated pay) is hereby terminated from the date of their unauthorised absence in terms of the provisions of the agreement under S.O. 364 dated 27-11-2020 / JKCSR. 1956.”
