Srinagar, Sept 2: With the first patient discharged after full recovery, the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag today announced the start of free-of-cost antivenom therapy for poisonous snake bites.
Earlier, officials said that patients requiring the therapy had to travel to Srinagar. Now, the treatment will be ensured at GMC Anantnag for patients below 18 years of age.
The therapy will be available in the Department of Paediatrics at GMC Anantnag for patients suffering from poisonous snake bites, which are mostly reported in south Kashmir areas.
“It is worth mentioning that the antivenom therapy for all common poisonous snake bites is available free of cost at the facility,” officials said.
Any patient up to 18 years of age who is bitten by a snake has been advised to report to the Department of Paediatrics for free treatment and antivenom therapy if required.
