SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Oct 31: Glowing tribute were paid to Iron Man and first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birthday which is also celebrated as National Unity Day across the country by Chief Secretary of J&K, Atal Dulloo, educational institutions, heads of various Government departments and leaders of political parties and social organisations.
On the eve of the 12th National Unity Day, Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, administered the ‘Unity Pledge’ to officers and officials of the Civil Secretariat here.
The ceremony, aimed at reaffirming the spirit of national integration and collective responsibility. The same was also attended virtually by employees stationed at the Jammu Secretariat through video conferencing.
During the solemn ceremony, the civil servants pledged to dedicate themselves to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation, and to spread this message among fellow citizens.
They also resolved to contribute actively towards ensuring internal security and strengthening the spirit of national unity in their respective spheres of work.
To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Sardar @ 150 Unity March, a district-level Padyatra was organised today here from Gulshan Ground.
The march was flagged off by Divisional Commissioner ,Ramesh Kumar in the presence of IGP, Bhim Sen Tuti, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr Rakesh Minhas, DIG, Shiv Kumar and ADC Ansuya Jamwal.
Director Mera Yuva Bharat, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Nisar Ahmed Butt was also present on the occasion.
The march passed through Gujjar Nagar bridge and culminated at Hari Singh Park. Bands from the J&K Police and BSF along with NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, school students and officers and staff of the district administration participated in large numbers and pledged to uphold the unity and sovereignty of the nation.
Patriotic performances were presented by school students and artists from the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Tableaus were also showcased as part of the Unity Run.
Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Jammu & Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took out unity marches at district level across Jammu & Kashmir, in which BJP leaders, party cadre, prominent civil society members, and common people participated in massive numbers.
J&K BJP led by its president and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma (CA), organized a grand “Unity March” in Jammu. The march began from Vikram Chowk, passed through KC Chowk, main markets, and prominent roads, and culminated near the Press Club, Jammu, symbolizing the message of national integration and collective strength.
The event was managed by Baldev Singh Billawaria, J&K BJP general secretary and J&K in charge of the Unity March, along with Rajiv Charak, BJP vice-president and Jammu Lok Sabha in charge for Sardar@150 Unity March.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma said that Sardar Patel was not only the architect of India’s political integration but also the embodiment of firm resolve and selfless service to the nation. He said that the idea of unity propagated by Sardar Patel is the soul of our nation.
Ashok Koul stated that BJP is committed to taking Sardar Patel’s message of unity and integrity to the grassroots level.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at its main Campus, Chatha. The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and coordinated by Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Students Welfare.
The celebration commenced with a Pledge Ceremony, where faculty members officers, staff and NSS volunteers reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of unity, integrity and nation-building envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Department of History, School of Social Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu, organized a special lecture entitled “Territorial Integrity and National Unity: Historical and Constitutional Context of Jammu and Kashmir” on the eve of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’.
Government Degree College Khaltsi commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
The event commenced with a pledge to remain drug-free, reinforcing the commitment of students and staff towards building a healthy and progressive society. This was followed by a lecture by Dr Shah Nawaz, Assistant Professor of Political Science.
Department of Hindi, Government Degree College, Vijaypur under various clubs like NSS, Nasha Mukht Bharat, Yuva Mission, Unnat Bharat, Shikshit Bharat organized a Slogan Writing Competition on the occasion of National Unity Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, today.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, under the leadership of Prof. B. S. Sahay, its Director, , organized the Fit India Freedom Run 6.0 today, marking the culmination of the nationwide Fit India Freedom Run campaign led by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The initiative is part of the Fit India Mission launched by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, aimed at inspiring citizens to adopt fitness as a way of life.
On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Samba police organized a “Run for Unity” to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrating his immense contribution to national integration and unity in India.
SSP Samba accompanied by Addl.SP Samba, DySP DAR Samba, DySP SOG Samba and other police officers flagged off the run which commenced from Mansar Morh, opposite GDC Samba, and culminated at DPL Shah Balode Samba, covering a distance of approximately four kilometers. About 300participants including police officers, jawans, students, ex-servicemen and civilians joined the run to show their support for national unity and integration.

Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal today organised a “Run for Unity” to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated nationwide as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).
