JAMMU, Nov 1: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, K Rajendra Kumar has asked the BSF jawans to give befitting reply to continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
He stated this during his visit to cross-border firing areas in Samba and Kathua districts. He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone Danesh Rana, Deputy Inspector General of BSF Pardeep Katyal, besides other senior police officers including SSP Samba Joginder Singh, SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar, Commandant, IRP 17th Battalion Roop Raj, Madan Lal Commandant 80 Battalion BSF, K Ganesh Commandant 173 Battalion BSF, SP Traffic Rural Dushant Sharma, SDPOs and DySP Operations of two districts.
He visited different BOPs on the International Border (IB) including Galarh, Suchetgarh, Regal, Chilarian, Khora, Chak Dolma, police post Rajpura, BPP Pangdhor, BPP Mawa, BOP Babiya, Chandwan, Post Londi, Pansar, Chor Gali, Maniyari, Faqira, Paharpur, Madha, BPP Sherpur, Sanyal, Chakra, Lachhipur, Hariya Chak, Baniyari, Kot Punnu and police station Hiranagar.
DGP also visited highly affected border villages falling under the jurisdictions of Samba and Kathua Districts respectively, wherein people have been evacuated by local administration and shifted to safer areas.
DGP J&K, during his visit of (IB) sector Samba & Kathua also interacted with BSF jawans and felicitated them and found their morale high. He appreciated the valour of these jawans and encouraged them to remain steadfast and firm in giving a befitting reply to the unprovoked and continuous ceasefire violations from across border.
BSF and other officers briefed the DGP about the current border situation. After making an assessment of the situation, DGP briefed the Police and BSF personnel to synergise their efforts so as to fully ensure the safety and security of the local population.
DGP also warned against infiltration attempts under the cover of border firing and he reviewed the hinterland security and suggested measures to further strengthen the anti infiltration grid.
He exhorted the police officers to promptly respond to distress calls and ensure the security of civilians round the clock and also briefed the police personnel regarding prevalent security scenario and gave them certain orders. He also met with some locals and had inputs regarding the movement on border and sought their cooperation to check intrusion.

Later, Pawan Kotwal Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Danesh Rana, IGP, Jammu Zone visited Government Medical College Jammu to enquire about the condition of the cross border firing and shelling victims.
Both the officers assured of all possible help from the administration and best possible means of treatment. They also met family members of the injured and were assured all possible help and best treatment to the injured persons.
