RAJOURI, June 15: In a tragic incident that shocked the local people in the town here, a teenaged-girl jumped from Salani bridge at Rajouri today and received serious injuries.
Identified as Saima Kouser (17), daughter of Sabir Hussain, a resident of Galuta, Mendhar, the girl sustained critical injuries after she allegedly jumped from the busy Salani bridge in Rajouri town this afternoon.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the girl fell on the dry and stony riverbed beneath the bridge, resulting in multiple serious injuries and fractures. She was immediately rescued by locals and police and shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Rajouri, where doctors stabilized her condition.
Given the severity of her injuries, the victim was later referred to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment and specialized medical care. The police has taken cognizance of the matter. The reason behind this extreme step could not be ascertained however, police has started investigation.
