MENDHAR, Mar 29: A girl and her mother were buried when a mound of earth caved while they were digging for good-clay near their village in Sagra area of Mankote in district Poonch this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place when some women of the village Dabraj had gone to collect good earth from a cave near their village at around 4.30 pm. 15-year-old Asiya Kouser was digging the good earth while her mother was standing nearby. Suddenly the earth collapsed and minor girl and her mother came under the debris.
Three wore women waiting nearby for their turn managed to immediately dragged out Kalsoom Akhtar from the debris while her daughter Asiya could not be saved. Later, police and other villagers rushed to the site. They extricated the dead body of the minor Asiya Kouser.
Kalsoom’s both the legs were fractured and she also received multiple injuries. She was rushed to Mendhar Hospital and later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu.
