SUCHETGARH, Dec 9:
Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony, along with MLA Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, inaugurated the blacktopping of the Gharani to Gharana road, a crucial link upgraded at a cost of around Rs 1.5 crore.
Tony said the road has been improved for the first time since 1947, although it existed only on paper for decades.
“This road was just a line drawn in old files. I converted that line into a real, motorable road. It took struggle, follow-ups, and hard decisions,” he said.
He added that the project faced several challenges, including land demarcation and the removal of encroachments. “We fought every obstacle, administrative, technical, and on-ground. My only mission was to ensure people get the basic rights they were denied for decades,” Tony stated.
Expressing gratitude to locals, he said many villagers voluntarily donated portions of their land. “People of Suchetgarh have a big heart. Their cooperation made this project possible. When people and administration work together, development becomes unstoppable,” he said.
Tony also praised former Sarpanch Gurdyal Singh Soni for consistently pushing the demand and ensuring community support.
Talking about his larger development vision, Tony said, “By the end of my tenure, I will blacktop 99.9 percent of the roads in the Suchetgarh constituency. This is my commitment, and I intend to fulfil it.”
He added that several more developmental works are already in the pipeline. “In the coming days, you will see many more roads getting blacktopped. My focus is on maximum connectivity, better transport, and overall upliftment of the border belt,” Tony said.
“My aim is simple, every household should feel the change, every villager should feel relief,” he added.
Prominent locals, including Sham Choudhary, Daljit Choudhary, Mital Choudhary, and others, were present at the inauguration.
