Gharu Ram condemns firing by Pak on civilians

JAMMU, Sept 20: Strongly condemning the unabated firing from across the border causing loss of lives and injuries to the civilians and security forces, the Kissan Department of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has said that the worsening situation on the border and LOC in the state, is a cause of serious concern, as the border population mostly farmers, is worst affected.
In a meeting of Kissan Congress of JKPCC presided over its Chairman, Ch Gharu Ram (Former Minister) at PCC headquarters here today, serious concern was expressed over the continued incidents of firing from Pakistan which has made the life of the people living along the Indo-Pak border and near LOC, miserable, risking their lives and property, as number of people have become the victim of firing in recent past. The meeting felt that over 2000 ceasefire violation during current year is indication of the designs of the Pakistan and the lot of tension between two countries.
Ch Gharu Ram said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those living near LOC and Indo-Pak border, are directly affected by the prevailing situation between the two countries. The Government of India should take special care to the border area people. But it is unfortunate that the farmers of border area who suffered heavy loss due to heavy shelling across the border this year, have not been compensated so far.
He demanded that the concerned authorities should assess the loss and provide compensation at the earliest. Besides the Government should adopt an effective strategy in order to ensure the cessation of activities of hostilities by Pakistan.
