Ghagwal police rescues 16 bovines, seizes truck

SAMBA, June 13: Samba police on second consecutive day today foiled another attempt to smuggling of bovines by rescuing 16 animals in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
According to the report, a police party of P/S Ghagwal, while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal signalled to stop a truck bearing Registration. No. JK02AD-5725 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley. On seeing the Naka party, the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed of the vehicle and tried to flee away from the spot. But after being chased by the police he abandoned the truck at a few metres distance from Naka point and managed to escape.
During checking of the vehicle, 16 bovines were found laden inside it. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 57/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
