SAMBA, Nov 22: In a major breakthrough Samba Police arrested one drug peddler with a huge consignment of contraband item i.e one Quintal (Poppy Straw) in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal today.
On a tip of regarding transportation of contraband items towards Kathua and Punjab, a special Nakka was laid by Ghagwal Police headed by Inspector, Rajeev Kumar, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy. SP Hqrs. Samba and overall supervision of Dr. Koshal Sharma-, SSP Samba at Tapyal Morh Ghagwal today.
During naka checking, a tractor bearing Registration No.PB58C/4077 while coming from Kashmir towards Kathua on way to Punjab side was intercepted and after thorough checking, poppy straw weighing one Quintal was recovered from the possession of the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Saroop Singh, S/o Tarlok Singh R/o Dadewali, Tehsil Batala, district Gurdaspur (Pb).
The contraband was concealed in the tyres of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on spot besides seizing the vehicle as well as the contraband. In this regard case FIR No.150/2018 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
