JAMMU, Dec 11: Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College today organised a programme to extend financial assistance to its flood-affected Local Fund employees and to honour outstanding academic achievers through the Neeraj Sharma Memorial Meritorious Scholarship for the academic session 2024-25.
The ceremony was graced by Shantmanu, Additional Chief Secretary & Financial Secretary, Higher Education Department, as the chief guest. Prof Rattan Lal Sharma, a renowned educationist, was present as the special invitee,
As part of the college’s welfare initiative, a total relief fund of Rs 2,00,000 was distributed among nine Local Fund employees whose families were severely affected by recent floods.
The event also featured the presentation of the Neeraj Sharma Memorial Meritorious Scholarship, instituted in remembrance of the late Neeraj Sharma. The scholarship was awarded to the overall topper and the topper in Chemistry for the session 2024-25, recognising their exemplary academic performance.
In his address, Shantmanu lauded the college for its proactive support to affected employees and congratulated the meritorious students. He emphasised the importance of empathy, resilience, and academic dedication in shaping a progressive society.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr Yasmmen Mughal. This was followed by keynote address by Prof Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, who highlighted the college’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility.
The proceedings of the event were conducted by Prof Revika Arora. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Asha Sharma. The entire programme was organised by the Scholarship and Relief Fund Committee. Prof Rohit Bhardwaj, Dr Devinder K Sharma and Dr Ashaq Hussain contributed immensely to ensuring the event’s smooth execution and success.
