JAMMU, May 20: General Line Teachers Forum has demanded immediate scrapping of Government Order No. 469-Edu of 2014 dated 25.06.2014, which threatens the seniority and future prospects of nearly 50,000 General Line Teachers.
The Forum alleged that the implementation of this order has already caused immense discontent and demoralization among highly qualified teachers. It is unjust and unconstitutional to equate SSRB-appointed General Line Teachers with RETs, who were brought in through a different mechanism with separate eligibility, selection criteria, and service structure, it explained.
The Forum has strongly urged the Education Department to bifurcate the cadre of ReTs and General Line Teachers and fix seniority strictly based on the mode of selection as failure to address this issue may lead to widespread protests and legal interventions.
The Forum called upon the Lt Governor, Chief Secretary, and Commissioner Secretary Education to immediately address this grave issue and provide justice to General Line Teachers.
