JAMMU, Apr 21: A deputation of General Category Peoples Front led by Prof Yash Paul Sharma, president of the Front called on Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Transport, Satish Sharma, who is also Member of Cabinet Sub-committee set up by the J&K Govt to review and rationalisation of Govt Reservation Policy, and submitted 12-point memorandum to him.
The main points projected in the memorandum included the increase of EWS quota from 10% to 20%, the reservation provided to the affluent people on the basis of their caste be abolished. Memorandum also included the demands that a person who is not practicing own professions be deleted from the list of OBC, SC and ST Category. Moreover, before providing reservation to any section of the society Govt must collect quantifiable data showing inadequacy of the representation and 50% limit should not be increased in any case. The benefits of reservation be provided to the family only once.
The Scheduled Caste reservation be categorized to three or four categories to end the monopoly of one section as implemented on 134th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar by the Talangana Govt, approved by State High Court and Supreme Court of India, exclusion of creamy layer from the reservation and there should be time limit as reservation cannot be forever.
The Minister assured the delegation that their concerns were heard and demands would be addressed.
The deputation included Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Front, Jagdish Dogra Ex-president Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jammu; Bhushan Pargal, Deepak Khajuria, VK Sharma, Kewal Sharma, Inder Sharma, Pran Nath Koul, yash Paul Sharma, Shri Niwas Sharma, Kewal Krishan Sharma, Ashok Khajuria, Ashok Shastri, Suresh Magotra, SP Sharma and Parveen Sharma.
