JAMMU, May 24: Jammu girl, Geetika Kohli, an internationally acclaimed poetess, has now come up with an anthrology of poetry titled “The last sonnet and Other Poems”, which has been published by Authors Press of New Delhi.
It is a collection of 50 poems of various genres in classical and contemporary English Literature, including Italian forms like the ‘Petranchan Sonnet’, Japanese forms like and Haiku and English forms like Shakesperean Sonnets, Black verse poetry, free verse poetry and fair collection of experimental poems.
This book is a mine of spiritual metaphors that the poetess found in the nightmarish ghettoes of existence. She has seen it, known it and told it like a scribe and has ventured so far as to be life’s own stooge. This is a most intimate confession of her mental sojourns and her discoveries therein.
Geetika gained worldwide acclaim when at the tender age of 21, her poems had found place in an international publication titles ‘Blossoms of India’. Besides English she has also found expression in Urdu, Hindi, Braj Bhasha and Punjabi. She has been an academic topper all throughout, topping CBSE in 2006 and Jammu University in 2009.
The pride of the city Geetika is an acclaimed painter and orator. She runs a U-Tube channel, a Facebook Page and a blog. He dream is to bring quality poetry to her people and to place her home town on the global map through a series of efforts, of which, writing is but one.
